michael elliott
Michael Elliott was born and raised in outport Newfoundland. He has a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Memorial University. Michael spent five years as an officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force before becoming a police officer with the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) in 2005. Michael was first elected into the Edmonton Police Association (EPA) in 2008 as a Director. Throughout his career he was elected as the President of the Alberta Federation of Police Associations, Vice Chair of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (Edmonton) and a Director at the Canadian Police Association. Michael was elected President of the EPA in 2018 and in January 2023, stepped away for treatment due to PTSD (vicarious trauma and moral injury). Michael is the recipient of the Queen's Diamond and Queen's Platinum Jubilee medals and was appointed to the Order of Merit of Police Forces by the Governor General of Canada for his work in the community and for mental health awareness. Michael is currently a Staff Sergeant with the EPS.
